Lately, I’ve been back to reading, a lot. Somehow I got really bored of video games after playing Elden Ring for hundreds of hours (I’m obsessive like that) that I only managed to play few games of Civilization VI after that but that’s about it.

After finally finishing Sapiens (it took me a year), and then Homo Deus (it took me 4 days), two amazing books I can’t recommend enough, I’ve jumped on Build by Tony Fadell (I receveid the physical edition just in time).

Here is a few quotes from an early chapter of the book.

You should know where you want to go, who you want to work with, what you want to learn, who you want to become.

Don’t worry too much about the title — focus on the work.

You don’t have to be an executive right away, you don’t have to get a job at the most amazing, world-changing company right out of college, but you should have a goal.

But if you want to prove yourself, to learn as much as you can and do as much as you can, you need to put in the time.

Excerpt from “Build” by Tony Fadell

It’s been refreshing to read this book. The work culture has shifted enormously in the startup world. It’s really easy to get negative about the amount of work needed to build something truly great those days. We tend to take a few things for granted, but it’s not the case. Life altering products need a lot of craftsmanship to happen, to make a dent in the universe. Nothing is built out of thin air.

The early chapters of this book really reminded of my early days, I wanted to build my own startup, I’ve failed two times but I learned so much out of those experiences that the amount of work was well worth it. I also made lifelong friends and connections. Now I’ve worked for almost 10 years with an amazing team, transitioning from just three people in an appartment, then a cave (well ok it was basement Parisian offices with a window on the ceiling) to now Medium. I can’t wait to contribute to my future, to our future.
