How I’ve been playing Doom lately
A classic that never gets old
The release of Doom: The Dark Ages finally completes the masterpiece of a reboot trilogy of the all-time classic Doom. It’s a masterclass from Id Software and Hugo Martin (the game director) on how to reboot a franchise successfully. Like Diablo, I’ve played various shades of Doom (but mostly classic) all my life.
Doom 2016, Doom Eternal, and The Dark Ages are all amazing in their own right. They all bring their own twist to what makes Doom… Doom. It’s loud, it’s fun, it’s fast, and the gun design is fantastic. Rip and tears forever.
And every time a new Doom game is released, I play it, and then I’m inevitably drawn back to the original Doom.
